Book burning

I am now officially a book burner. We've been planning to remodel our room and so for a few months now my books have been off the shelf and in a large box almost the size of my bed. We have had a termite problem on and off, and today I discovered they had established a colony in my book collection! A couple of dozen books were badly damaged, with tunnels right through the pages. About eight were completely ruined, including the very first book I ever bought with my own money: an abridged kid edition of "Ivanhoe". The "Dragonlance Chronicles" which took me years of rooting around used books sales to complete were goners. My copy of "The Princess Bride almost didn't make it. "The Physics of Star Trek" (a gift from my brother), Frederick Barthelme's "Natural Selection", and a borrowed copy of "Siddhartha" were the most badly hit: There wasn't even any paper left between the pages; just termites and dirt tunnels. I dumped termite poison on the ruined books, took the lot outside and burned it.

R.I.P.

It wasn't until later that night that I burned my arm.
